Middle Years
Programme
(Grades 6–10)

From curiosity to deeper understanding.

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Naavu is designed for students aged 11 to 16 and builds on the foundations established in the Primary Years.

At this stage, students begin to explore ideas more deeply and learn how knowledge connects across subjects and real-world contexts. They learn not just to ask questions — but to investigate them, test ideas, and present their thinking with clarity.

The MYP encourages students to become thoughtful learners who can think critically, collaborate with others, and reflect on their own learning.

What Learning
Looks Like

In the Middle Years, learning often begins with complex questions about the world.

Students might explore questions like:

How do cities grow and change?

What makes a scientific experiment reliable?

How does technology influence society?

What can history teach us about the future?

A week might include:

Design solutions to environmental challenges

Conduct science experiments and analyse results

Debate ethical questions in class discussions

Build prototypes in design and technology

The IB MYP Framework

The IB Middle Years Programme organises learning around important global ideas called Global Contexts, which help students connect their learning to the real world.

Students explore themes such as:

Identities and relationships

Orientation in space and time

Personal and cultural expression

Scientific and technical innovation

Globalisation and sustainability

Fairness and development

A Day in Middle Years

Calm. Intentional. Joyful.
Each day balances movement with reflection, exploration with rest.

8:30 – 8:50 Homeroom & Student Advisory

8:30 – 8:50

Homeroom & Student Advisory

Students begin the day with advisory sessions that focus on wellbeing, planning, and reflection. These moments allow students to organise their work, check in with mentors, and prepare for the academic day ahead.
